Apply to join the Baskin Day Planning Committee!
Baskin Day is a celebration of Baskin Engineering and its students. This event will feature workshops, seminars, lab tours, and other exciting events to recognize the work of fellow slugs. We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate students to join our planning committee to organize our third annual event. We welcome all majors, not just engineers. We are currently in the process of expanding Baskin Day. We plan on hosting multiple events throughout the year to stay engaged with the SOE community.

ACM-W Intern Program!
We would like to announce our Intern Program! As an intern, you will get the opportunity to shadow and assist ACM-W board members. Interns will be able to be a part of planning speaker events, organizing workshops, and managing the website. Interns may potentially continue as an officer of ACM-W. In addition, this program provides the opportunity for interns to connect with our vast network of BSOE faculty.

Software Research Opportunity
Focused ultrasound (FUS) is a revolutionary non-invasive medical therapy. It sends harmless sound waves from outside of body to create a focal therapy point, with over 130 conditions in the body, including but not limited to oncology, neurology, neurosurgery, and more. We, at YektaSonics, are developing a novel hardware-software co-designed phased array to be used in focused ultrasound medical devices. The technology is an order of magnitude lower cost in compare to other phased arrays in the market, and it has the most optimum output signaling of pure sine or harmonic free (beneficial to the FUS community due to MRI compatibility and power efficiency to transducers). YektaSonics has received many awards and recognitions, such as being a company in residence at University of California Citris Foundry incubator, UC Big Ideas finalist, NSF I-Corps recommended team, and being invited to NSF SBIR for proposal submission.
We have a software intern position for this summer, where a strong candidate will develop our package as well as contributing to our machine operating system. The work will be done mainly in C/C++. Students Needed for a Video Game Research Study - Earn $50 to Participate!
We are currently seeking CS undergraduates to participate in a video game study. Our study examines how Data-Driven Retrospective Interviewing (DDRI) can help generate insightful feedback from video game players.
Eligible participants will be asked to play four levels of a programming game and then complete a 15-30 minute interview. During the interview, participants will be asked questions regarding their gameplay data. Upon completion of the play session and the interview process, participants will be compensated with a $50 gift card.
You can participate in this study if you are at least 18 years of age and able to read and speak English. You must be a registered student enrolled in an undergraduate CS program and you must have access to a Windows computer. Running Windows on a Mac or Linux machine will not suffice it must be a Windows machine.

Opportunity for Undergraduates for a Project on Learning in Online Labor Markets
The Tech4Good Lab is seeking 3 undergraduate students to assist a PhD student on various aspects of a developing research project in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Social Computing. Undergraduate students will be working on various tasks as need, including but not limited to, testing the study design, and reading and summarizing relevant literature. No experience necessary to apply, just an interest in the project topic, ability to work independently, and eagerness to learn. This is a great opportunity if you've ever been curious about HCI research. Expected time commitment is 10hrs/week. The advance of technology and the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in an increase of workers who are turning to working on gig platforms to make ends meet. However, working conditions on various gig platforms are poor, and workers do not receive the support they need. One of these challenges is supporting workers’ learning and career goals. The goal of our project is to understand how social learning may help gig workers transition from lower-skilled platform like Amazon Mechanical Turk to higher skilled platforms like Upwork.
