Readers and Tutors needed for CSE 13S
We are looking for readers and tutors (especially individual, but also group) for CSE 13S. This is a very large class, so we're looking for a lot of help—we expect to hire ten or more readers and tutors. We are particularly interested in undergrads who have taken CSE 13S within the past two years and received a grade of B- or higher, but will consider other students with sufficient justification in the application. Previous reader / tutor experience is helpful but not necessary. Please apply at https://rta.soe.ucsc.edu/, and include the quarter in which you took CSE 13S, the instructor who taught it, your grade, and any other information you feel might be relevant for your application, such as external programming projects, internship experience, etc.
The tutor hours schedule will be made before the first class (September 22), and will accommodate your individual schedule. Readers can do grading at any time, as long as it's completed by the deadline, which will typically be a week after an assignment is submitted. Neither readers nor tutors are required to attend lectures or sections.

Recruitment for a User Study related to a Microsoft Research Internship Regarding Excel
We would like to invite you to participate in a study to understand the use of spreadsheet software. Your participation will inform the design of features in Excel spreadsheets.
The study involves an hour-long session during which we will ask you to use an experimental spreadsheet software on a video conference call using Microsoft Teams’ Remote Control feature and subsequently provide feedback in a semi-structured interview. Prior to the study you will answer a demographic questionnaire. You will be given a short tutorial about how to use the prototype. You will be asked to complete a short questionnaire at the middle of the study, and another at the end of the study. We will ask you questions about your spreadsheet experience. With your consent, we will record the interview on video and do a screen recording of the walkthrough on our computer (nothing on your computer will be recorded).
As a thank you for your time we will compensate you with USD $25 or local currency equivalent in Amazon vouchers.
If you use spreadsheets and are interested in this research, please email Kasra Ferdowsi at t-kferdowsi@microsoft.com.
We will contact you with further instructions and a research consent form and fix a date that’s convenient for the session/interview.
We look forward to your response.
Thank you!
