Engineers for Exploration (E4E) Summer Research Program at UC San Diego - Application is Now Open!
UC San Diego’s Engineers for Exploration Summer Research Program is an NSF REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) Site centered around multidisciplinary and collaborative student research with the broad goals of protecting the environment, uncovering mysteries related to cultural heritage, and providing experiential learning experiences. Our program is a full-time paid research experience from June 26th to September 1st in which students will work in multidisciplinary research teams to aid scientists from the San Diego Zoo, Scripps Institute of Oceanography, and UC San Diego in tackling problems in fields such as ecology, physical oceanography, and archeology.
During this program, students will create and apply technologies in novel ways to aid scientists in their work, and may have opportunities to accompany these technologies on field deployments around the world. Through these projects, students can expect to learn about embedded systems and software, machine learning, electronics integration, mechanical design, system building, as well as project management and team leadership. Need to Satisfy Your GE Requirements? Humanizing Tech Courses Have You Covered!
“Humanizing Technology,” is a new certificate program that provides humanities training targeted to early-career engineering undergraduate students at UC Santa Cruz. Funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities under their Humanities Initiatives at Hispanic-Serving Institutions program, the project brings humanistic methods and thinking to contemporary issues in technology and engineering.

This course explores ethical, social, and political issues raised by existing and emerging technologies.

Internship in Computational Genomics
Undergraduate Student Research Position - Computational Genomics
The Computational Genomics Laboratory (CGL) of the UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute offers undergraduate research assistant positions to qualified students. We currently have unpaid internships available for winter quarter. These undergraduate student research positions at UC Santa Cruz are a fantastic way for students to learn new skills and contribute to the advancement of genomic science. Programming skills are a must. Course credit available.
If interested, please complete the application form by January 23, 2022. A select group of applicants will be asked to complete a short programming challenge and interview. We will review every applicant, but due to volume we may not be able to respond directly to your application.

BSFO’s Annual Scholarship is Now Open!
The University of California, Office of the President’s Black Staff and Faculty Organization (BSFO) is encouraging systemwide UC-enrolled African American students to apply for BSFO’s Annual Scholarship.
In these days and times scholarships are used to help towards the astronomical costs of completing your educational goals and meeting daily expenses. BSFO recognizes the hard work, sacrifices, and dedication it takes to reach your educational goals. We provide a $1,000 scholarship annually to students to use towards items of your choosing and help lighten some of your financial obligations.
We want to hear from you, tell us a little about yourself, your passions, motivations, and examples of your persistence throughout your educational journey. Tell us about your academic achievements, professional goals, and scholastic endeavors. The Application process is simple, complete and submit UCOP’s BSFO Scholarship Application by December 31, 2022. You will not need to wait long to receive the funds, BSFO notifies selected students of their selection status by the end of January 2023 and funds are provided by the end of February 2023. Selected students will also have an opportunity to speak at BSFO's Scholarship Awards Ceremony held in February 2023.

ACEC California Scholarship Application is Now Open
The American Council of Engineering Companies of California (ACEC California) will be awarding several scholarships totaling up to $60,000 for the 2023-24 academic year. In addition, students who apply may also be awarded additional scholarship funds from our local chapters & ACEC National. ACEC California is a nonprofit association of private consulting engineering and land surveying firms. Explore Faculty Research in Computing / Design in a 1-credit Course
Want to explore new ideas in computing / design research, meet motivated peers, or have some interesting things to talk about in interviews? Join CMPM 15, a 1-credit course that introduces you to research areas that UCSC faculty are actively engaged in, all of whom are looking to involve undergraduate students, and some of which accept all students who have taken CMPM 15. Topics this quarter include sustainable sensor networks, explainable AI, accessible technology, 3D modeling, autonomous vehicles, design research, and educational technologies. All students are welcome! (first years, all majors, grad students, etc.)

OVERVIEW OF THE JOB:
This student staff position promotes the campus-wide presence of Student Media and its organizations by: 1) updating and maintaining the Student Media website, in collaboration with the Student Media Council and staff; 2) supporting Student Media organizations in the design and maintenance of their organizations’ websites by providing workshops and being available for consultation and trouble-shooting.
To best serve Student Media and its organizations, this staff position will attend Student Media meetings and trainings as assigned, hold regular office hours, and reply to emails and inquiries in a timely manner.
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE POSITION: Must have a flexible schedule that allows for meetings and communications with numerous Student Media organizations and the Student Media Council.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
