Software Research Opportunity

Focused ultrasound (FUS) is a revolutionary non-invasive medical therapy. It sends harmless sound waves from outside of body to create a focal therapy point, with over 130 conditions in the body, including but not limited to oncology, neurology, neurosurgery, and more. We, at YektaSonics, are developing a novel hardware-software co-designed phased array to be used in focused ultrasound medical devices. The technology is an order of magnitude lower cost in compare to other phased arrays in the market, and it has the most optimum output signaling of pure sine or harmonic free (beneficial to the FUS community due to MRI compatibility and power efficiency to transducers). YektaSonics has received many awards and recognitions, such as being a company in residence at University of California Citris Foundry incubator, UC Big Ideas finalist, NSF I-Corps recommended team, and being invited to NSF SBIR for proposal submission.

We have a software intern position for this summer, where a strong candidate will develop our package as well as contributing to our machine operating system. The work will be done mainly in C/C++. The lab is in San Jose area and remote work can be done. Please email your resume as well as your transcript to Navid Gougol at ngougol@ucsc.edu or gougol@yektasonics.com. Navid is the CEO and founder of YektaSonics and a PhD admitted in ECE at UCSC.
